Did you know? Banned by the band . . . In May 1986, the Tucson, AZ, Sunset Regiment looked forward to a successful marching season. A DCI tour had been planned and a strong 93-member corps was in place. Just 11 days prior to the first contest, the membership dropped to just 17 young people. The drastic change came when Tucson-area band directors learned that their members would not be around in early August for their band camps. The members were forced to choose school band over drum corps. The Sunset Regiment didnt even appear on the field that summer, but they did receive a bit more cooperation from the band directors later on. The corps enjoyed a successful 1987 campaign.
