Did you know? If you have a home in the Plainville Fire - TopicsExpress

Did you know? If you have a home in the Plainville Fire District (pink shaded area of the map - center picture), you could soon be paying a new Tax Levy that could show up on your taxes for ever!!! One of our contributors messaged us saying that he was very concerned about all the folks who reside in the Plainville Fire District. We have included his message along with a link to the Notice of Referendum to the Voters of the Plainville Fire District (below). Gerald Parsons (Former Plainville Fire District Commissioner) I hope you dont mind me posting this on your page. You can delete it this post if you want to, but the people in the Plainville Fire district need to know whats happening and maybe Ill get in trouble for this, but too bad! Well its official, I resigned as a Fire Commissioner for the Plainville Fire District yesterday. I started 22 months ago full of pride and with a promise to the tax payers that I would keep their taxes low as long as it didnt affect the safety of the members. Since then, Ive watched in amazement the attitude of the powers that be in the Fire Department we can do anything because the public doesnt care! Then this latest ordeal with the LOSAP (a sort of retirement) is totally outrageous and was the last straw if you will for me. Maybe the public doesnt care? But educate them on the facts and allow them ample and equal time to vote whether they do so or not, or vote yes or no is up to them, but three hours from 6-9 pm is not enough time. People work and some (elderly) cant drive at night. What if the weather is bad on that night? What youll get is just the firemen and their families voting that night, exactly what they are looking for! Then hold a Member only meeting just before the public one! Why? My problem with this is that people arent given the proper time to hear about this let alone vote on it. A hearing will be held on 11/13 at 7 PM and a vote on 12/9 between 6 & 9 PM. We have seniors and people that work during those times and wont get a chance to be heard on something this big. It is a Tax Levy and will show up on a separate line on your taxes for ever!!! Please help spread the word by sharing this post. I assumed It was our duty to work for the tax payers, not the other way around. I guess it helps that three of them (3 of the 5 commissioners) are fire department members. Anyway, have a great day folks. Thank you. (Info on the Plainville VFD LOSAP program: quickly reading it over, it looks like the fire district residents will have to pay about $21,000 a year for the first two years to get the program caught up, and will have an annual fee of around $8,000 a year on top of that)! If there is anyone out there who has any additional input, please feel free to share your info with us. You can find a link below for a complete copy of the Notice of Referendum to the Voters of the Plainville Fire District. If you or anyone in your family currently has a home in the Plainville Fire District, we urge you to read this notice and attend the public hearing on November 13th at 7pm (Go and ask some questions folks, its your money they want to spend). .#Baldwinsville #Plainville #PlainvilleFireDistrict #PlainvilleFireDepartment townoflysander.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/NOTICE-OF-REFERENDUM-10-21-2014-Plainville-Fire-District-10-25-14.pdf
