Did you know? Waste loadout is the end of the line. At our Martha mine in Waihi, New Zealand, the waste rock from the open pit is transported 2.7 km by conveyor to a transfer station where it is dumped into trucks. If there are no trucks present the waste is directed off the end of the conveyor (as seen in one of the images), where it is later loaded onto trucks by a front end loader. The waste rock is used as either structural material or fill on the tailings impoundment embankment.
