Did you know that? - SASCO in 2010 engaged in negotiations with the management of the NMMU about the expansion of on- campus residences, so as to accommodate more students on- campus. Results of those engagements which were met with resistance, until SASCO employed a more persuasive method led to the construction of the new residences at SSV. - SASCO has fought for the accreditation of off-campus residences which are regulated by the policies of the NMMU, so as to stop the exploitation students by unreasonable landlords who refuse to pay back the down payments of students when they move out of their premises - North Campus used to have a huge parking bay until SASCO engaged with management to use the space to construct more academic facilities for conducting practice of the engineering sciences, hence the construction of the new Engineering building at North. - SASCO has fought to the installation of more ATMs in Second Avenue and Missionvale Campuses of the NMMU. - NMMU used to have limited shuttles to 2nd Avenue and Missionvale campus only until SASCO engaged with the management to expand the shuttle services. In this attempt to assist students we were met with resistance by management which even wanted to kick us out of the residences which we used for accommodation. -SASCO has been championing academic programs to equip students with the necessary keys for success in the NMMU, with its focus particularly on the first year students. -SASCO has proposed to management a new initiative to the management to introduce a driver’s licence course, so as to ensure that students are employable after Varsity. This initiative was approved by management and will be implemented next year. Bring Back the “R” in SRC, Vote SASCO. The Student Leadership that you deserve
