Did you know that even if the SBOE rejects the textbook described in the audio below the publisher can sell it directly to your childs school district? It is said to align with the Texas TEKS 100%, according to the TEA. Because of SB6 passed in 2011 which SBOE/Paid lobbyist Thomas Ratliff testified and lobbied for, the textbook described in this audio does not even have to go through the SBOE review board process. SB6 is the legislation, that opened Pandoras box for online instructional materials and CSCOPE to be purchased using the Permanant Education Fund. In addition IMs only have to cover 50% of the TEKS and publishers can sell directly to the school districts. Rep. Jason Villiba stated Joe Straus would kill Anti-Common Core legislation in the house. Those State Reps like Tan Parker, Drew Springer, Giovanni Capriglione, Phil King and others who support Straus over Scott Turner will be complicit in allowing Common Core to continue to flood into Texas Schools. This is a serious issue and we need Leaders like Tincy Miller and Ken Mercer who showed today they are willing to stand up to Common Core and inappropriate IMs coming into Texas Schools.
