Did you know that small quantities of dark chocolate can help alleviate the symptoms of gout? Apparently the flavonoids in the cocoa bean are antioxidants that help alleviate gout symptoms and also lower blood pressure. But only in small quantities, mind you, as otherwise you may gain weight and we all know that that is bad for gout. Milk/dairy chocolate does not have the same effect because it contains too many other ingredients, including sugar, that are gout triggers.
