Did you know that the Vikings believed the Northern Lights were Valkyries, warrior spirits who descended from heaven to take fallen heroes from the battlefield to Valhalla, the palace of the gods? Some believe the Vikings considered this path to be a bridge made of 3 colours of a rainbow but others disagree claiming it had to be the Aurora Borealis because of their location to the Arctic regions. Weve certainly watched auroras of many colours reaching across the sky. Whatever the belief is we certainly think that the Northern Lights is worthy of an association with the Vikings and has a place in their folklore. Lets face it they were a pretty formidable bunch.
