Did you know that the tattoo gun was a failed experiment by thomas edison. It was actually an eclectic pen that was made for speeding up printing by punching holes in paper "that looked like real hand writing" then they would press ink over the holed paper and it would make a print. But the printers said the top "motor" was too heavy. It sat in a shop in ny till it was bought by a tattoo artist"who did work by hand" and repatined as the tattoo machine. Just watched all about it on mysteries at the museum. Pretty good show.
