Did you know the answer to our #WhatIsItWendesday automobile challenge? It was a 1930 Cord L-29 Cabriolet, produced by the Auburn Automobile Company of Auburn, Indiana. The Cord automobile was the brainchild of industry magnate E. L. Cord, and was intended to fill a gap between his other brands, Auburn and Duesenberg. The L-29 was launched in June of 1929 and was available in four body styles: sedan, cabriolet, phaeton and brougham. It became the first American front wheel drive production auto offered to the public. Prices ranged between $3,095 and $3,295, which placed the Cord L-29 in competition with Cadillac, Packard and Chrysler Imperial.
