Did you know the ingredients necessary for thunderstorms to form and the stages in thunderstorm lifecycle? On the second graphic, rising warm, moist air forms a towering cumulus cloud that then becomes a mature thunder cloud when the warm moist updraft is balanced by the rain/hail cooled air in the downdraft. When the updraft gets cut off by the cold downdraft, the thunderstorm dissipates. New thunderstorms may form as the downdraft spreads outward and provides a source of lift. #NWSDYK
