Did you know there is a strong link between children’s food choice and their risk for obesity? When fast food and highly processed foods and beverages are regularly a part of a child’s diet, healthier foods and beverage are missing like whole grains, fruits, vegetables, milk and water, are missing. It’s easier than you think to replace the unhealthy food choices with better ones that are simple and easy. Start by replacing processed snacks such as potato chips with healthier wholesome foods such as yogurt, whole grain crackers with peanut butter, or fruit. Instead of sodas or other sugary drinks, fill children’s cups with water and low-fat/non-fat milk. Also, instead of ordering take-out or going through the drive-through, try some of these easy to prepare meals at home.
