Did you know there is still time to enroll for summer elective coursework? - Teresa Flaigle is teaching SCWK 730U - Exploring Animal Assisted Therapy (1 cr). This course will explore the therapeutic use of animals in social work settings. Students will learn about the animal-human bond, how animals can assist the social work practitioner, and current research in this area of practice. It is two days, June 28 and 29, from 9am-4pm. - Jean Mash is teaching SCWK 870 – Clinical Assessment for Advanced Generalist Practice (3 cr). The course uses a biopsychosocial perspective to understand problematic patterns of functioning identified as diagnoses in the DSM-IV. Students critically examine the DSM-IV as a basis for social work assessment and learn its use within an advanced generalist practice perspective. It meets Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursdays from July 9 through August 1st from 6-9:30pm. - Liz Wine is teaching SCWK 610P – International Social Work (1 cr). This course provides an overview of micro and macro practice outside of one’s own culture and internationally that will facilitate skill development in cross-cultural assessment and intervention at the individual, group and community level. This meets July 19 and 20th, from 9am to 4pm.
