Did you know tomorrow, December 21, is the Winter Solstice? That means we’ll have the shortest period of daylight and longest night of the year — which could mean you’ll be using more energy to light your home and stay warm without the benefit of natural warmth and light of the sun. Prepare your home for the occasion with more energy efficient lighting and by programming your thermostat: replace your bulbs with LEDs and/or CFLs (which are up to 75% more efficient and last up to 25x times longer than incandescent bulbs), and program your thermostat to reduce or turn off heating while you’re out for the day to avoid heating an empty home.
