Did your mother ever say something like - What on earth is going on here?!? Well as those who are following Jesus we always need to be asking our Lord that same question. We also need to ask - What are you doing Lord? So that we can continually be recalibrated by the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit and be on the cutting edge of the expansion of Gods loving trans-formative servant government on earth. In Bakersfield, California we are tasked with reaching everyone for Christ. This is not an option - this is a instructive mission. We have a growing number of established church fellowships praying together for revival - for a Christ Revolution - to begin in 2014. Great things are happening all around. Many problems dominate our hearts and minds and the news. In the midst of that there is a growing alertness to the answers to those problems through Jesus Christ and the powerful simplicity of his good news - that which we call the gospel of God. Our increasing cooperative prayer is like rain from above. Our increasing evangelistic outreaches are like the fountains of the great deep bursting forth with live giving water - establishing harvest groups in homes, workplaces, and about any place we can think of to bring the blessings of relationship with Christ to hurting individuals. Look at how millions are being reached in other nations with a simple reliance on the power (dunamis) of the gospel of God. Recently, a few brave individuals from various Bakersfield fellowships have been experimenting with going to neighborhoods and engaging people where they live with Christs powerful gospel message. In two weeks we have been greatly encouraged as 133 people responded asking Christ to become their Lord and Savior. Follow up is happening as I write. We are going back to these homes to present the basic tenets of faith and establish them in the truth and are using a more inductive guided approach rather than an expert bible teacher approach. Mostly because none of us are expert bible teachers! We are not as pristine in our approach as the video here depicts - however we are doing our hybrid best. Trying to learn to think outside of our church (building) boxes and take the gospel to where hurting people live. Getting in their homes and seeing their physical as well as spiritual needs is a real eye opener. I have worked as a short term missionary in some of the most impoverished regions of the world including Haiti and India. Some of the squalor and need in our own communities awakens my heart to the fact that we have great missionary opportunities right in our own region as well. Lets pray and put legs to our prayers until we collectively bring 30,000 new souls to Christ and they become true disciples. My expression - souls to soldiers. Every new believer will not just be a hearer of the Word - but will fully engage as a passionate follower of Christ!
