Didier Drogba should return to Chelsea action soon after a positive scan on his ankle. The 36-year-old picked up the knock less than half an hour into Sundays pre-season win against Hungarian side Ferencvaros. The striker, recently retired from international duty with the Ivory Coast, was clearly in pain and had to hobble off the field in Budapest. But Drogba has since undergone a positive scan and should return to first team action soon - though it is not yet known if he will be fit for selection for Monday nights Premier League opener at Burnley. Chelsea fans were fearing the worst when Drogba limped off but the scan results show it to be a short-term injury. Speaking to the club website, Drogba was in positive mood. I twisted my ankle and I couldn’t continue, he said. In the next few days we are going to do some treatment and I hope everything will be better. Drogba, back at Chelsea after two years in Turkey, is one of just three strikers in Jose Mourinhos squad after the exits of Samuel Etoo, Romelu Lukaku and Demba Ba. He is likely third choice behind £32m signing Diego Costa and Fernando Torres. However, Mourinho has been experimenting with two up front during pre-season so could get more game time than might have been expected. Young goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois is Mourinhos only other injury concern for Monday night, having only played 45 minutes of pre-season so far.
