Diego Costa opens Chelsea account in pre-season friendly DIEGO COSTA got his first goal in Chelsea colours, but it was business as usual for Fernando Torres as Chelsea continued to tune up for the new season with a 2-1 win over Olimpija Ljubljana in Slovenia last night. Torres missed an open goal from around two yards after Nathan Akes cutback in the closing minutes, but Chelsea had already taken control with goals from Costa and Kurt Zouma having fallen behind in the first half. Costas goal was a rifled shot after bursting though onto a defence- splitting pass from Cesc Fabregas. Obviously its nice for a striker to score in his first game, said manager Jose Mourinho. Every team has got stronger, not just us. The English league is the only one where five teams are candidates. We feel we are going to be very strong. Fabregas was also involved in Zoumas winner, with a corner which was met by Torres. His effort was saved but Zouma, signed in January from St Etienne and loaned back for the rest of last season, tucked away the rebound.
