Dimensions - by Pastor Murray Today we are going to he talking about dimensions. What are dimensions? You might consider the 2 x 4 you often hear me refer to. The dimensions of the 2 x 4 are 1 3/4 x 3 1/2 x what ever length you might have. The three dimensions we most often think of are depth, width and length. There is a fourth dimension. The easiest way to describe this fourth dimension might be time. As a pilot, I must consider the dimension of time. If I am flying 400 m.p.h. and know which direction I am going, I must know how long I have been flying to calculate where I am on the map. You see time is as important as knowing which direction you are flying. In the theory of relativity time is the fourth dimension. Space-time, a four dimensional continuum, consists of four coordinates. They are depth, width, length and time. A continuum is something absolutely continuous and homogeneous of which no distinction of content can be affirmed. Where does all this lead us? Lets turn to II Corinthians. Paul is teaching us to be prepared to pass on from this life to the Father. To be absent from the body is to be present with the Father. He has told us in II Corinthians 4:16 that man has an outward flesh body and an inward spiritual body. This inward body is your soul. Paul defines Christian belief in the following verse. 2 Cor 5:7 7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:) You are not able to see the Holv Spirit. Only through faith are we able to believe the Holy Spirit actually exists. Dimensions are perceived by man only through our five senses. Man of this world is not able to believe anything he cant see, feel, smell, hear or touch. If an atheist is not able to confirm the existence of something through his senses, he doesnt believe it exists. Atheists walk by sight. Christians walk by faith. Consider this fact. Man is able to look into the heavens and see stars, planets, and moons. However, that which he knows about is only a speck compared to the unknown space which lies between these heavenly bodies and that which lies beyond what man is able to discern. Man probably knows very little about what God has created in its entirety. Just as we are unable to see all of Gods celestial creations, we are unable to see the Holy Spirit. But, if you are a strong Christian you are able to feel the Spirit. He is all around you and helps you every day. I hope you are walking by faith and not by sight. Someday soon, when you are out of the flesh body, faith will be reality and the things of this world will be past. Your reality will become your place in the Fathers eternity. Does the Bible speak of this? Of course it does. Paul was taken to the third heaven. Where is the third heaven? You will find the answer in II Peter chapter 3. Paul was taken to the third earth age which is the third heaven. To avoid risking others worshipping him and not listening to Gods Word, he spoke in the third person in the verses that follow. 2 Cor 12:1-2 1 It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord. 2 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. As Paul made this journey, he was not able to discern whether he was in the flesh body or the spirltual body. Paul did not know which dimension he was in. 2 Cor 12:3-5 3 And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) 4 How that he was caught up into paradise, and heard unspeakable words, which it is not lawful for a man to utter. 5 Of such an one will I glory: yet of myself I will not glory, but in mine infirmities. Those which glory in themselves tend to boast. Paul said he heard words in paradise unlawful to mention, and he would have no part of glorifying himself. Paul, as you know, was given a thorn in his side, or an infirmity, to keep him weak. He knew when he was weak in the flesh, he was strong in the Lord. That is why he took glory in his infirmities. You which are strong in Christianity also know the power that you have access to when you are strong in the Lord. Although you are not able to see it, you know the power is there. As a Pastor, one of the experiences is you have to witness others going through the transition from living to the death of the flesh body. On many such occasions I have witnessed persons calling out the name of a family member that had previously passed on to the Father. I believe that in the transition some are able to see and recognize the spirit of a loved one coming to take them home. There is another dimension. We have been talking about it. The spiritual dimension is that in which the inner man or our soul exists. Lets turn to John chapter 20. After Christ was crucified, He went to the disciples who were soon to become apostles which simply means one sent forth. John 20:19 19 Then the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled for fear of the Jews, came Jesus and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be unto you. The disciples were hiding and had the doors shut tight. Jesus came to them through the door or through the wall. In the spiritual dimension, which is real the wall or the spirit? You will soon be in the spiritual dimension. The main point I wish to make in this lecture is for you to be strong in faith and spirit. Soon, these will be your reality. Walls of this world probably wont even exist in the spiritual dimension. Lets turn to II Kings. As you may know, Elisha strongly loved Elijah. And rightly so, as I believe Elijah was the prophet of prophets. God had told Elijah his work on earth was done and it was time for him to leave. II Ki 2:9-10 9 And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me. 10 And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so. It was a hard thing Elisha asked because it wasnt in Elijahs power to give. Sharpen up for me here. Elijah told Elisha if he could see him when he was taken, then it would be so. In other words if Elisha could see into the spintual dimension, his request would have been granted by God. II Ki 2:11-12 11 And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. 12 And Elisha saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and rent them in two pieces. Elisha was blessed by God and could indeed see into the spiritual dimension. He knew Elijah didnt die, as he might have thought had he been walking by sight. Now, dont get carried away with dimensions to the point you want to fly away. Our work is here. Lets turn to chapter 6. The king of Syria was warring against Israel. It seemed one of his servants was telling the king of Israel his strategy. But, it turns out Elisha was telling the king of Israel where the Syrians would be. The king of Syria learned of this and sent an army to capture Elisha. II Ki 6:14-15 14 Therefore sent he thither horses, and chariots, and a great host: and they came by night, and compassed the city about. 15 And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, Alas, my master! how shall we do? Elishas servant thought they were goners. Things were looking bad in the eyes of the servant. He was walking by sight. II Ki 6:16-17 16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. 17 And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. If you are on Gods Mission, those chariots of fire are always there to protect you. His chariots dont bend. His sword never misses. His Word is true. Does God protect those who serve Him? Lets go to Psalms. Ps 34:1-2 1 I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth. 2 My soul shall make her boast in the LORD: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad. We have a lot to be thankful for. Which dimension does the word soul in verse 2 denote? When you walk by faith, you trust Him. Ps 34:3-4 3 O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together. 4 I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Has He delivered you from all your fears? You dont have anything to be afraid of. Ps 34:5-7 5 They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. 6 This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles. 7 The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them. The angel of the Lord is the Lord in the spiritual dimension. The word fear may be better translated revere. If you revere Him. He will deliver you. He is encamped all around you. He said, touch not mine anointed. Do you realize what a warning that is to your enemies. Dont worry about childish things. If you do worry about childish things, I have a question for you. How mature of a Christian are you? Do you walk by sight, or do you walk by faith? Ps 34:8-9 8 O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. 9 O fear the LORD, ye his saints: for there is no want to them that fear him. Did you understand that? Those that revere Him want for nothing. Lets turn to Psalms 68 in closing. Ps 68:17 17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place. Are you going to let some little thorn bother you? I think not. He has armies that are unconquerable. Walk by faith. Ps 68:18-19 18 Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them. 19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. The God of our salvation is Yahshua Messiah Jesus. The Lord has blessed this spiritual family. Yes, there is a spiritual dimension; however, I caution you. Be mature enough when studying dimensions to realize you are in the flesh. We have work to do here, and man will remain in the flesh until His work is done. Take comfort in knowing He is your Father and He will never leave you or forsake you.
