Guerlains collaboration with Marie Claire magazine in 1998 has been highlighted in recent weeks; specifically the rare and coveted eau de parfum created by Jean Paul Guerlain, composed and given to select readers by way of a competition to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the iconic publication. A stunning and opulent study of tuberose and white flowers, Marie Claire the perfume has a dense floral character (much in keeping with beloved Guerlain florals such as Nahema or Parure) which is heady, enchanting and intoxicating. Created at a point in the Guerlain timeline where more sedate limited editions like Cherry Blossom, Philtre dAmour and Secret Intention were the norm, Marie Claire is testimony to Guerlains time-honoured appreciation of opulent florals and exceptional ingredients that act as a timeless overture to femininity. (Yesterday, I erroneously noted that it was created in 1999. It was actually given out at Christmas time the year before, as Guerlain was celebrating its 170th anniversary.)
