Diplomatic Dispatch 2 available NOW. A huge part of being an artist for me is reinventing why, how, and what kind of art I share. Art, for me, is a direct reflection of who I am at current times in my life. When I wrote my first record Diplomatic Immunity, I had just graduated from college at University of Colorado. I had finally mastered the N64 Mario Kart power slide, was dipping my toes into the sounds of Daft Punk, Chromeo, Legowelt, Crystal Castles, and I was exploding with that early twenties youthful frenetic energy that propelled me to dance, dance, dance. I had this urge to lose myself in music because well, I was a bit lost in life. So, I made music that helped me through that process. Now, looking back, it was a beautiful way to mark my college experience, and the few years after. 10 years later, when I wrote Pushing Through The Pavement, 32 years old, embarking on a collaborative land project, building lots of community, learning about natural building, permaculture, attending workshops, ceremonies, rituals. Still lost perhaps :) but with the awareness to recognize it. My guess is that if you listen to both records side by side for the first time, you would have no idea it was the same artist. And really, thats because Im a completely different person than I was 10 years, and 12 albums ago. I imagine most all of you can relate to that. I love all of these tunes. All of these albums because theyre a little time piece of how I was experiencing the world over the course of the past decade. Theyre my story unfolding in musical form. And as far as I know, the story is just getting started. I hope when you listen to this mix, you feel that. I also hope this mix serves as a reminder that the people we meet in life are constantly changing and evolving. Its that evolution and change that keeps the world and our experience within it beautifully fascinating. Thanks guys.
