Dis is from my very good friend. “I keep asking myself: What has happened to our conscience? Why would I support a president who can’t give me job? Why would I support a president who can’t guarantee my security in my own country? Why would I support a president that glorifies corruption and celebrates with the convicted? Do I have a future with such a leader as my president? “One of my friends is a die-hard PDP supporter. During an argument, he once told me that if the PDP decides to adopt a moron as their presidential candidate in the forthcoming election, he’ll gladly vote the person. I asked him what we, Nigerian youth, have achieved during the PDP’s reign. I reminded him that both of us aregraduates looking for jobs without any hope of getting one in the nearest future. My friend said he’d rather the current president remains as long as he’s from the South . “Like my friend, most Nigerian youth are ignorant. Whenever you speak against the government, they call you an opposition. Nigerian youth also see our rulers as messiahs that must be worshipped. They idolize rulers and aer willing to kill to see that this desperate politicians succeeds. That’s why politicians with a vision can never get into an elective post in Nigeria. “The system is corrupt and dirty. They know the youths are vulnerable and continue to take advantage of that to impose themselves on us. That’s why they can’t create policies or institutions that would provide sustainable jobs for the unemployed Nigerian youth. They would rather reserve such jobs for their children. “September 25th 2014 was declared public holiday in Enugu State because of Jonathan’s re-election rally. 70% of the crowd that came were Nigerian youth, standing under the hot sun. Some came all the way from neighbouring states as early as 5AM. I saw over Ifesinachi Transport luxurious buses conveying people from different villages to Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium venue of the rally. After the rally, money was shared as usual. “Nigerian youth should start changing their mindset, change the way they see our politicians. The earlier we realize that the power to change this country is in our hands, the better for us. We make up the largest portion of this country. That’s the greatest advantage. “Stomach infrastructure,” like a bag of rice, bag of garri for #5000 to #20,000, will not last forever. But good government will last for generations. “Think twice and vote wisely. The power to change this government is in our hands, and February 2015 is the time. I am not a fan of the ruling or the opposition government. I am an advocate of good governance. As for me, any politician or political party that will guarantee me a job, good governance, security, efficient health system is who I will vote for. What about you?
