Discernment is the ability to see and understand people, things, or situations clearly and intelligently. John 7:24 says, Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment.” In order for us to judge with right judgment, we must be able to spiritually discern good from evil. 1 John 4:1 says, Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. The enemy influences people also and have them approach Gods children to stray the wrong way or get them off course or off track of the direction that God has set them on. There was a group call, The Undisputed Truth and they had a hit song called Smiling Faces. the lyrics go like this, Smiling faces sometimes pretend to be your friend. Smiling faces show no traces of the evil that lurks within. Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes, they dont tell the truth uh Smiling faces, smiling faces, tell lies and I got proof. Think of all of the deceitful, devious, cold, calculating, shrewd, sly and sneaky smiles we have encountered over the years. We truly learn from our mistakes and we need to be aware of our surroundings and use discernment when dealing with people. If we dont the smiling face will truly fool us again and again and again.
