Disciples of Apostle Joseph Ayodele Babalola TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR HOME Each time God speaks to you, He’s invariably communicating His plans, desires and agenda not only for you but for a whole generation including those that are yet unborn. You must clearly understand and seek to know His will for you and your family. This must be passed across to your household and everyone coming in contact with you. “For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him.” (Genesis 18:19). Read: Psalm 128:1-6 God’s instructions make wise and goes a long way to affect the way of life of every individual. If you can picture His plans and purposes for you and your family, your entire generation will live to enjoy divine blessings without any effort on their own part as though they were without sacrifice. Abraham was ready to do the will of God. His faith was strong and he didn’t doubt the Almighty for once. God testified of him. God knew the content of his heart and how well he was able to carry his family into the centre of His will. He communicated well with his entire household and little wonder he was also able to deliver Lot from the perils in Sodom and Gomorrah. As a parent, one of your roles is to be able to listen, hear and obey the counsel of God. You can only build a godly home if you have a relationship with God yourself. If you have no fear of God nor respect for things of God, it will be very difficult for you to produce God fearing children and to raise Kingdom giants. You can only give what you have. If you are not working closely with God, you will find it difficult calling your children or anyone under your roof to obey God’s principles. Aside hearing and knowing His will for your family, you must be ready to pass it down to all. The bible says “Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverbs 22:6). You must communicate it well and teach your entire household about what it takes to fear God and also to work in His ways provided you have also yielded your life to Him. This is the only guarantee for peace and longevity. If you fail in the responsibility of bringing up your family in the way of the Lord, you will have chaos all the days of your life and that chaos will continue even after you are gone. There’s a song we used to sing as children “with Jesus in the family, happy happy home”. Are you truly in charge? How godly are you as a man or woman. Can your children talk of your love for God or they only know you are a fashion and money chasing parent. The Bible says: “Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.” (Proverbs 14:1). When last did you pray from your heart concerning the spiritual welfare of your family? Are you taking your wards before the lord? Are you also training them to recognise God as the source of all blessings? If you have not been doing these, now is the time to get started so that the peace and love of God will reign supreme in your home and your generations to come. Reflections: Every bit of success or failure of your marriage starts with you. Think of how to get the will and counsel of God by paying close attention to His will for your life and family members.
