Disclaimer: Math question. Sorry, scroll past if youre not interested please. So for -any- number n, 1^n=1. The proof for this is simple for whole numbers/integers. 1 times itself for an exponent of any integer is still 1. I get that. 1 x 1 x 1 x 1... = 1. But is anyone aware of a proof that works for n when its a decimal or fraction? Why does 1^(3/4) = 1? 1^(4/3) = 1? Is this just an axiomatic rule that I just have to accept, like the laws of logic? Or am I misunderstanding the function of exponents?
