Disclaimer....Please dont read if youre eating or squeamish ;) Ok...I need to pick the brains of the Millies feeding folk, who have dogs with a history of Pancreatitis. A bit of history. I have a 10 year old Lab who after years of being able to eat all and anything with no repercussions, had a sudden and nearly fatal attack of Pancreatitis earlier this year. Since then, I initially followed the Vets advice and had her on a very low fat diet (Chappie ....Wet fishy mush in a tin, or Burns .... expensive meat flavoured rice in a bag), but she looked really poor on these; her coat went coarse, she lost loads of muscle bulk and she started acting old. So, I tried to switch her to Millies; first the Gundog variety, then the Utility (these were the lowest in fat), but even though Ive been introducing it slowly over many weeks now, every time I get to 3/4 Millies - 1/4 Burns, she produces horrid poos; yellow, semi formed and covered in a slimy, greasy looking film, and this worries me in case her pancreas is struggling with the extra fat content. So far, every time its happened Ive dropped the Millies back to 1/3-1/2 and she has immediately gone back to producing her usual chopstickable offerings. The thing is she is looking and acting SO much better now shes having the Millies, so Id like to keep feeding it if possible, but I dont know what to do for the best, and so heres the questions (finally ;) ) ..... Did any of your dogs do the same when you swapped over, and if so, what did you do? Did you push on through and the poo situation improved as the dogs body got used to the food?
