Discounts for flood insurance are being phased out to reflect true risk under the Biggert Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012. If your premiums are rising you can talk with your agent about options. Higher deductibles may lower premiums, but an Elevation Certificate prepared by a licensed professional land surveyor may qualify you for a lower rate.
