Discouraged? There is this thing called discouragement that we all face at some point in our lives. I face this foe more often than I like to admit. No one is immune from this particular attack from the enemy, and especially pastors. I read this statement this week: “The Christian life is not a constant high. I have my moments of deep discouragement. I have to go to God in prayer with tears in my eyes, and say, O God, forgive me, or Help me.’” Discouragement can lead to defeat or victory depending on how we handle its strike. And often time left un-confronted, can yield a spirit of self-pity that will destroy our effectiveness in and passion for our Life in Christ. I love what Hellen Keller (blind) said: “Self Pity is our worst enemy and if we yield to it, we can never do anything wise in this world.” What can you do about it? Ask God for His intervention and help. Get in His Word. Tell a friend and covet their prayers. Do what you know you need to do every day- every minute, one step at a time, and trust God Who said, ‘My Strength is made perfect in your weakness.’ His mercies are new every morning, and His power to work for your good is just a request away. God will make a way for His Children in the deepest of nights and the darkest of valleys. And by a roadway in the wilderness, He will lead you. Say NO to discouragement and claim your victory as a son or daughter of the King.
