Discreet special tributes appear to Fay Wray and King Kong (1933) - TopicsExpress

Discreet special tributes appear to Fay Wray and King Kong (1933) in the remake in 2005. The most obvious is perfectly cast Naomi Watts as Ann Darrow, played in the original by the legendary Fay, who wears this hat as a tribute to her. As we know, as beloved Fay was in negotiations to appear in the film before she died. Peter Jackson wanted her to deliver the legendary last line: Oh no, it wasnt the airplanes. It was beauty killed the beast. Instead, Jack Blacks character now makes a reference to her as he is searching for a leading actress for his film, suggesting a Fay as a possible candidate. Colin Hankss character responds by saying, Shes already filming something for RKO, which in reality was the original King Kong (1933). Black responds, Cooper. I should have known, a reference to original Kong director Merian C. Cooper. But, even more special is that the 2005 is dedicated to her memory. Very special indeed.
