(Dispatch) 22:44 ** F-FIRE-CHIMNEY ** 312 DAUSMAN ST ** - ** ** E IRVING ST AND HARTWELL ** Just before 11 last night units were dispatched to a possible chimney fire in the far east end of the village. Caller reported a fire in his chimney. Car 1 (Chief Russell) and Car 2 (Asst. Chief Brewster) responded to the alarm. Car 2 arrived to nothing evident from the exterior. Car 1 arrived and assumed command. Engine 1 (Capt. Cramer), Truck 2 (Lt. Russell), and Engine 4 (Capt. Shields) responded to the alarm. Engine 1 was first due and entered the structure to find a smoke condition in the basement and an active fire in the chimney of the basement fire place. Truck 2 was close behind and laddered the roof to ensure the chimney was clear and check for any extension. Engine 4 was third due and set up PPV fans and assisted in checking for extension on the exterior wall. Engine 1cleaned out the fire place then used a dry chem extinguisher to extinguish the fire while Truck 2 opened the chimney cover and used their TIC to keep an eye on heat sources. The fire and damage was contained to the chimney and no injuries were reported. Units operated on scene for 30 minutes clearing out smoke before returning to service.
