Dispatched on a respiratory emergency, you arrive at a local dialysis center. The staff leads you to an elderly male that is clearly in respiratory distress. They note that he has missed his previous two dialysis appointments. He came into the center today, but was too short of breath to participate in his treatment. The patient is leaning forward, has nasal flaring, subclavicular retractions, and a markedly increased work of breathing. There are audible crackles. He is on a non-rebreather. The staff shows you this set of recent vitals: HR 130, RR 38, SpO2 84%, BP 240/140 How would you proceed with this patients care from this point?
