Dissident statement no comfort for family caught in attack - Maskey Sinn Féin MP Paul Maskey said the statement from a dissident group admitting responsibility for Friday nights reckless bomb attack on the Falls Road is of no comfort to the family who escaped serious injury in Friday night’s bomb attack. Speaking today Mr Maskey said: “The statement for the dissident group claiming responsibility for the reckless bomb attack holds little comfort for the family who narrowly escaped serious injury when their car was struck with shrapnel. “The fact that the dissident group claims they were ready to open fire further indicates their disregard for this community. “The area was very busy on that night. Since I arrived on the scene hundreds of cars and countless pedestrians passed along this road and over 500 people were only 200 yards away in the Féile marquee. “Despite this those responsible showed absolute contempt for the people of West Belfast. “There is a very clear message, which they now need to listen to. Their actions will achieve nothing, there is virtually no support for them and they need to go away.”
