Disturbing news........My boy Venture - my oldest & dearest friend - has been diagnosed with laminitis. Were putting all hands on deck for him. This morning, the doc gave him an IV bag of DMSO & we taped impression material around both of his front frogs, complete with E-Z boots to act as cushions. We gave him a deep bed of shavings. Were changing his diet to decrease his intake of protein. Were giving him bute twice a day. Ill ice his hooves every morning & every afternoon. Acute laminitis is bad. It killed my little Dawnie. It killed little Diamond. It killed Mr. Steve Vai. It killed Secretariat & it killed Barbaro. We saved our Hollywood, though, & today hes good as new. It just takes a lot of luck - & time & energy & love & care & money.
