Divide and Conquer: Politics and the Left/Right Fraud (Video) From education to the environment, business to banking, housing to health care, it seems there is no issue in the world that industrialized western society cannot reduce to a simplistic paradigm of “liberal” vs. “conservative”. In fact, this point has been so hardwired into the modern political system that it’s been distilled into a childlike shorthand: political positions are either “left” or “right”, or “blue” or “red”. These convenient, color-coded, either-or political choices serve to infantilize the political process, making the public little more than spectators at a sporting event, rooting for one team or another without really having to understand the issues being debated. Individuals who identify with and remain loyal to a political party too often cease to evaluate pertinent sociopolitical issues at some point, choosing instead to adopt all stances declared official by their “team” without investing much thought or time to research…
