"Divine Interruptions" | The Book of Jonah Interruptions, we all have them. In fact, everybody’s life has been impacted by them. They have the propensity to wake us from a deep sleep as well as the power to compel us to change all while propelling us forward. Interruptions will change your views and perspective about life resulting in forcing you to change the way you do things. Interruptions are not all bad. As uncomfortable as they may be at times, interruptions pushes us out of our comfort zone as they navigate us into the life that God has pre-destined for us. Has your life ever been shaken up by a divine instruction from the Lord? Did you run from it or were you obedient to it? How was your life impacted by the decision? If you are diligent in your walk with the Lord, your life has indeed been divinely interrupted from time to time. There are times when God gives us a divine instruction to go someplace and to do something, but because we think we know what’s best…we decide to do the complete opposite. This is a huge mistake, just as the Prophet Jonah! This disobedient act of defiance is one that every believer has been guilty of committing at some point during their walk with the Lord. I have lived long enough to know that interruptions are not something that we embrace because most of us try our best to avoid them. Therefore, they tend to shock us, as they sometimes appear in the form of a much unexpected pink slip or death of a loved one or relationship. Nevertheless, God is in control and He knows exactly what is needed to navigate us into that special place where His will can be maximized in our lives. Although very scary and unexpected at times, interruptions do bring to the table a new “freshness” and excitement about life. Question…just how long would you have continued to entertain yourself with the mere “talk” of starting your own business, if you had not received a pink slip from the company? Or better yet, just how long would you have remained in that abusive or non-productive relationship before finally making the proactive decision to get out, had it not been for a divine interruption? Would you have simply settled? Whatever your response, know this…even if you made the conscious choice to walk in disobedience out of fear, God still has the power to navigate the circumstances of your bad choices to lead you right into what He has for you. Don’t take Val’s word for it…just read Jonah’s story and let him tell you himself!
