Do Bollywood actors and singers who get elected as MPs serve the people of their constituencies? Do they listen to the complaints of the people? Do they undertake any developmental work in their constituency and get it completed during their five-year tenure? Do they regularly attend Parliament when it is in session? The answer to all these questions unfortunately is a Big No. When they campaign for their election, they make all kinds of promises to the people of their constituency to work for their welfare, but once they get elected, they vanish from the scene. In short, they forget their promises to the people and go back to Mumbai to work in films. In the recent Lok Sabha election, many Bollywood personalities got elected as MPs on the BJP ticket. No need to name them. The people of their constituencies are now complaining that they have not seen their MPs even once after the election. They are asking who should they go to if they have any complaint. Are they expected to go to Mumbai to meet their MPs? The paramount question is why do Bollywood actors and singers come into politics if they are not serious about serving the people of this country. This also raises the question whether it is advisable for a political party to give its tickets to Bollywood actors and singers even while knowing it that they seldom come up to the expectations of the people who elect them.
