Do I have to be No.1 to win my fathers love? - By JiYoung Moon from South Korea My parents got divorced when I was very young and I grew up without having my father around. My first interactions with him began when I was a teenager. Initially it felt very awkward and I did not know what to say. However I gradually I noticed that when I told him I was performing very well at school he seemed proud and happy. And so, from then on, I only met him when I felt like I could make him proud. If there was nothing I could, I would agonize for days thinking of something to make him feel proud of me. While attending the Freedom in Living in India, I realised I had never really connected to my father. When I went back to Korea and met him, for the first time, I was able to truly feel my father. Instead of craving for him to praise me, I asked him how he was doing. To my surprise, he happily shared how he was! We kept chatting away like two old friends! And to think that all this time I thought the only way to carry on a conversation was when I had some good news to share. We had the best time together as father and daughter and I could really feel the connection!!!!!
