Do You Care about Holiness and Ecology? I have a few thoughts - TopicsExpress

Do You Care about Holiness and Ecology? I have a few thoughts below: God created all things good and he expects people to be good stewards of the environment. In order to achieve this there is need for aggressive conscioutisation of ecological concerns such as deforestation, depletion of species (e.g. poaching of game animals), and climate change. The church in general is to encourage its membership to practice healthy habits which are not harmful to our environment. For example, the people’s attitude towards throwing liter any how is to be discouraged. Therefore, humanity’s call is to partner with God in this redemptive activity of creation in all diverse ways so that a healthy ecological environment is created. The church should lead the way and become a light to the world! God has a mission (Missio Dei) to reach down, to heal, and redeem creation with the purpose of restoring creation that has been marred by sin and disobedience (creation groans for redemption!). As God’s people, part of our mission is to partner with God in this task of liberating creation from its bondage to decay and bring it to glorious freedom. The church should support governments and all concerned organizations in their quest to pursue and move forward an aggressive climate change agenda. A friend of mine, Rvd. Matt Simeon, has written an amazing academic essay on holiness and ecology. Its titled, HOLINESS AND ECOLOGY: Holy People of God and the Environment – The Connection and the Responsibility. This is a must read for the NTC/SA Manchester 2013 Cohort! Good morning?
