Do any of the local cafes do Pay it Forward where you pay extra when buying a drink or meal for someone who is struggling? The reason I ask on Tuesday after leaving the RACV in Percy St, I noticed this man coming towards us. He looked homeless, he was carrying a blanket, was wearing a flannelette shirt half tucked into pants which were then tucked into socks. He had no shoes. I felt sorry for him as it was bitterly cold, yet he wasnt dressed warmly for the weather. Then we went to the library later the same day. As we were leaving he came in, said to the librarian I was a member years ago but can I come into browse. She said of course. Both times I turned to Bruce and said did you see that poor man, yet he didnt. Has anyone else seen him around Portland? Last night when I heard the rain on our tin roof and the thunder I was wondering were that poor man would be sleeping on such a cold, wet night. Is there anywhere that helps these people or do they just sleep on park benches?
