Do any on my multilingual or linguist friends know of a word in any language that combines pity and respect? After 4 days of fieldwork at The Charis Project teaching farm I am destroyed. The last 2 days I have been working side-by-side with a group of laborers we are partnering with. I am a strong hard worker......it would take 2 of me to keep up with one of them. I could not keep a clear conscience and pay them what we had agreed on, which itself was more than their going rate. I am so thankful that I dont have to do that to survive. These guys are thankful for the opportunity to provide for their family. Before you judge someone or come up with the master plan to solve all their problems, walk a mile in their shoes........or at least go to work with them for a few days.
