Do elephants cry the same way humans do or is something else going - TopicsExpress

Do elephants cry the same way humans do or is something else going on in their mourning and sadness processes? Thanks for the question, Taylor Pedicone. Were sure there is alot we dont understand... A purely scientific answer to tears would be that nearly all mammals that live on land produce tears to protect and lubricate their eyes, also, tears help to clean dirt, dust, or any potentially harmful particles out of your eyes.... meanwhile, scientists also know how dangerous it can be to ‘anthropomorphise’ your study subject. BUT, it’s equally dangerous to ignore a wealth of scientific data based on decades of observations in the wild! The story of Raju, the Asian elephant who wept when he was set free? Yes, we certainly can believe that elephants cry and mourn, as weve witnessed it ourselves, often. https://thedodo/did-raju-really-weep-what-elep-621148597.html
