Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership - TopicsExpress

Do not be bound together with unbelievers; for what partnership have righteousness and lawlessness, or what fellowship has light with darkness? -II CORINTHIANS 6:14 If you are a Christian, and you have a relationship with an unbeliever, understand one thing: there is nothing you have in common with that friend that will last forever. Now, Jesus was a friend of sinners, and we should be, too. But to marry an unbeliever—to be joined together with him or her as one flesh—is to go against the command of God. I am the product of a home where my mother was a Christian, and my dad was not. When a Christian does disobey God’s command and marries a non-Christian, the believing spouse is not to leave. He or she is to stay and love that mate, praying for them and seeking to win them to the Lord with their own lifestyle. My mom did that. My dad became a Christian later in life, but when they married, they were unequally yoked. If you are single, guard your heart. I do not believe it is wise for a single person who is a Christian to begin a dating relationship with a person who is not. Why? Because the odds are excellent that you will eventually marry someone that you date. Why begin a romance that can go nowhere? It’s a prescription for a broken heart. I wish you could sit in my study or read my mail and hear first-hand from men and women who have fallen in love with their heart but not their head, and married unbelieving mates. All of them would tell you to wait for God’s best, to guard your heart, and to refuse to be unequally yoked.
