Do we ever truly understand what compassion is. We sometimes think we can empathize with others n their challenges. Truth is if we saw the big picture of any given situation in any individuals plight in life, our hearts n minds will not grasp the full intensity of it. To even say I can relate seems such an egoistic statement. Witnessing pain and agony, the sorrow and grief, the sadness and frustration to live with a cancer and to see the yearning for the life beyond this veil leaves me reeling with mixed emotions. We can present to the world the okay-ness of who and what we are experiencing and then shut the door to the truth of our challenges be it illness, rage or sorrow or the hope to cope and survive or welcome death if we are near an earthly end. How selfish of me to even expect someone would understand. What does it matter other than to sit and hold a hand of a loved one who carries the pain and whatever other emotional burdens chosen to carry. I have learned much since the turn of a new year. The veil between here and there blows in the wind. Who you are is who you have chosen to be.
