Do we have a right to know how our meat is slaughtered? A debate about killing methods has blown up in the UK after a major pizza chain said all the chicken it uses is halal. Many supermarkets and food chains sell halal meat but it isnt necessarily labelled as such. Members of Jewish organisation Shechita UK and the Muslim Council of Britain have called for comprehensive labelling for all methods of slaughter, not just religious ones. They say we should know which of any approved methods - for instance captive bolt shooting, gassing, electrocution, drowning or trapping - is used.
