Do you direct a concert band? “Escapade in Swing” is a Grade 4 (½ to 6) concert band piece with a duration of about 3:45. The piece will be published by Imagine Music Publishing. “Escapade in Swing” won the publisher’s 2011 Pathways Series Band Composition Contest. The publisher will consider using an mp3 of a polished live performance of this piece on its website to promote the music. The recording would be used only for promotional purposes to sell the sheet music--not for other commercial use. My goal is to send to the publisher the best live performance recording I can get. Are you interested in performing and recording this piece? If I submit your mp3 and Imagine Music uses it, I will ask the publisher to include a dedication to the director and band on the published score and parts. “Escapade in Swing” provides ample opportunities to teach lessons in jazz style, jazz notation and techniques, maintaining a steady tempo, intonation, soli and ensemble playing, and improvisation. Check the solos in measures 62-69 for clarinet, alto saxophone, tenor saxophone, and euphonium.
