Do you experience the Christian life as a never-ending cycle of ups and downs, victory and defeat, rising and falling over and over again? Do you find yourself repeatedly falling victim to the same oppressive defeat? This cycle is not what Jesus came to give us. That kind of cycle describes a Christian - as Paul would say in Romans 7 - "walking in the flesh". Israel experienced that kind of repeated cycle in their relationship with God in the Book of Judges and in Samuel’s day. But something different is available to NT disciples of Jesus! How do you break free from this cycle? It’s called walking according to the Spirit! (Read Romans 8). If we will allow the Spirit to guide our thinking, our decision-making, our behavior, our heart, our emotions, if we will surrender everything about ourselves to the Lord, then the cycle will be broken!
