Do you have an extra stall or spot in your pasture and room in your heart? Are you within 2hrs of the Twin Cities? CANTER Minnesota is looking for both short term/emergency and long term/permanent fosters, and forever homes, and also transportation to these homes for retiring racehorses that are in need. Many retiring racehorses have injuries that require time to heal before going on to new careers, or permanent issues that make them suitable for light riding or life as a companion horse only. These horses are difficult to find homes for and as stall space at the track is limited, sometimes they need a place to go quickly. Some require no special treatment can be turned out at pasture 24/7 and given simple maintenance. Others may require stall rest, hand walking or medical treatment. Some are ready to start retraining with qualified riders. CANTER is a non profit and any expenses for foster horses are tax deductible. We will send you a foster application and if approved, will notify you of horses in need and you can choose if you would like to take that horse, there is no obligation. Currently we are looking for fosters for Ami, Nikki and Poppie and potentially one more.
