Do you have suggestions for Hannah? I have a question, do you have any ideas for entertaining an overtired toddler for several hours? I have a 2 year old (and a babe on the way) and sometimes we miss nap time for one reason or another (appointment, etc). He *does not* handle being overtired well, but we find its important to hold out until bedtime as late naps lead to *very* late nights and it just doesnt work out. Sadly, when hes over tired all his favorite activities become too hard. Blocks and puzzles end in tears, and just in general tantrums seem to be around every corner. We work through each melt down as best we can as they play out, but it would be really lovely to have some low stress (for him) activity ideas in my belt for these overtired afternoons! Another note is that he often goes into hyperdrive when overtired, and suddenly hes throwing things and being totally reckless. Im working on boundaries in this area, but I generally try to avoid activities that will hype him up unless Im full of energy myself and up to the challenge. As an example, he LOVES music! But playing instruments when hes overtired usually leads to craziness and is too frustrating for him. Dancing still seems to be fun and low stress for him, but needs to happen only an hour or two before bedtime or itll just wear him out even more Thanks in advance!
