Do you know what scholarships the EU is funding for Nepali people? Read more. SMART-LINK is an EU-funded 3.05 million euros project recently launched by EU Ambassador Rensje Teerink and Minister for Foreign Affairs Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, aiming to foster international cooperation between European Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and HEIs in emerging Asian countries through the promotion of mobility at all levels of studies for high education. The project has 20 partner institutions – 11 from Asia and 9 from Europe – while the coordinating partner for Nepal is the TU affiliated Kantipur Engineering College. Of all Asian countries, Nepal has been allotted the largest number of scholarships. There will be a mobility of a total of 160 people: 116 Asian scholars and staff will move to European universities in the course of the next four years. During the launching event, Ambassador Teerink said the EU plays an instrumental role in supporting the education sector in Nepal and in Asia. She informed that under the Erasmus Mundus Programme 3,000 students from South Asia received full scholarship to study in Europe at various levels between 2008-2013. This constitutes 50% of the scholarship given in the Asian region. Good luck to all Asian students in Europe!
