Do you live in a coal county? Theres a new scholarship called the Kentucky Coal Coal County College Completion Scholarship that provides financial assistance for residents of Kentuckys coal‐producing counties to complete their bachelors degree. Student must: Be a U.S. citizen Be a permanent resident of a Kentucky coal‐producing county (Bell, Boyd, Breathitt, Clay, Daviess, Elliott, Floyd, Hancock, Harlan, Henderson, Hopkins, Jackson, Johnson, Knott, Knox, Laurel, Lawrence, Leslie, Letcher, Magoffin, Martin, Menifee, Morgan, Muhlenberg, Ohio, Owsley, Perry, Pike, Pulaski, Rockcastle, Union, Webster, Whitley, Wolfe) Have earned at least sixty (60) credit hours toward a bachelors degree. Be enrolled at least half‐time in a bachelors degree program. Be in good academic standing. Have no past due financial obligations to KHEAA. Award: Up to $6,800 per year at nonprofit, independent institution located in a coal-producing county; Up to $2,300 per year at public university extension campus located in a coal‐producing county; Up to $3,400 per year at public or nonprofit, independent institution whose main campus is in Kentucky, but not in a coal‐producing county.* *KCCCCS funds may be awarded at an institution that is not located in a coal‐producing county only if an eligible student is pursuing an approved bachelors degree program in a field of study that is not offered at any institution located in a coal‐producing county.
