Do you talk that way all the time? Having closed a suburban Bed Bath Beyond at 9 and Lowes at 10, J.D. and I, post-unloading, were dragging, quite haggard and hungry, from my apartment, to celebrate NOT having closed IKEA for the 3rd night in a row. Pardon me, are you Joel? (the short version: yeah, more fruit of my over-sharing on Facebook). We made introductions with my classmate-to-be, a Somali, by way of Kenya and Finland, and until recently, worked at the United Nations (Im so out of my league). She was listening to J.D. and interjected, Wait, you… you both have, but you really have… an accent. Do you talk that way all the time? It was all I could do to not bust out laughing as J.D. stammered, then confirmed for her, indeed, he did. Ive never heard a real person talk that way. I thought it was just something special for movies. Its going to be an awesome year.
