Do you want to live in a vibrant city where you can drive less? Well an important part is building new houses and apartments within our city centres. The most attractive areas in Auckland are the city centre, city fringe suburbs, central isthmus and coastal areas to the north and east - but opposition by a select few residents to intensification in these areas has, and will continue to force downsizing, reducing housing choices for young people. Great North Rd is a great example in Auckland of a place that could easily accommodate 5, 6 and 7 storey apartment buildings close to the city centre within walking and cycling distance of job opportunities and Universities.
